Creating Your First Task

Tasks are the core of Tobi. Here's how to create your first task and start getting organized.

Quick Add

The fastest way to create a task:

  1. Click the "+" button on the dashboard
  2. Type your task title
  3. Optionally set a project, priority, due date, or time estimate
  4. Press Enter or click "Add Task"

Task Details

Click any task to open the detail panel where you can:

  • Edit the title and add a description
  • Set or change the due date
  • Adjust priority (Low, Medium, High, Urgent)
  • Add time estimates for better planning
  • Create subtasks to break down larger tasks
  • Add tags for organization
  • Set up recurring schedules (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Mark as "Hard Deadline" for critical tasks

Drag and Drop

Drag tasks to reorder them by priority. Your custom order is saved and persists across sessions.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Cmd+N / Ctrl+N - Quick add new task
  • Cmd+K / Ctrl+K - Open Command Palette to search tasks
